Course Description
IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification Course for LVNs
This course is a 3-day course that combines Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Blood Withdrawal (BW) instruction that is delivered in the classroom setting for Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). It is designed to teach LVNs basic techniques in intravenous therapy and blood withdrawal. Upon successfully completing the course, LVN student will be certified by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician to initiate and superimpose intravenous fluids and blood withdrawal.
BVNPT no longer allows home study or online classes for this course.
CareEd Health is an approved BVNPT provider for IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification Course.
Course Content
The course starts @ 9:00 am each day and will cover the entire 12 hours equivalent instruction time. Class size is limited to 14 participants. Certificate of Completion is awarded only to students who completed 36 hours of instruction.
Every student must complete a minimum of three (3) individually supervised successful venipunctures on live human subjects and at least three (3) individually supervised skin punctures on live human subjects in laboratory clinical practice.
